Symposium 8: Grammaticalization in Igbo & Other Nigerian Languages

Grammaticalization is a research framework that is concerned with the processes involving the gradual acquisition of grammatical functions by lexical items and even constructions. At the core of this year’s symposium are the following points:

  • The new insights into the grammar of Igbo and other Nigerian languages.

  • How the grammaticalization research can contribute to the development of the written grammar of a language.
