Symposium 6: Aspects of Igbo Lexicography

Date: 23rd to 24th November, 2015

‘Igbo Lexicography’ is yet to be established as a research area; the intermittent scholarly examination of one or two of the extant dictionaries of the language can therefore be seen as a positive and welcome development. This symposium is foundational in orientation. It openly invites all Igbo scholars who have written any work on any aspect of Igbo lexicography, in addition to those who have written Igbo dictionaries or 'larger wordlists'. The symposium also aims at contributing towards a vibrant Igbo lexicographic tradition through an open invitation of papers on any of the folllowing aspects of Igbo lexicography: dictionary structure, dictionary history, dictionary criticism, dictionary use, dictionary production, etc.
