Symposium 3: The Transitivity Problem of the Igbo Verb

DATE: 28th and 29th NOVEMBER, 2011

The attribution of transitivity to the Igbo verb has remained a source of disagreement amongst Igbo linguists for decads. Cosequentyly, there is no generally agreed answer to the question of whether Igbo verbs can be generally divided into transitive and intransitive groups. The symposium is yet another opportunity to delve into this very troublesome area in Igbo grammar.
